§14-11-1. Overworking, maltreatment or inflicting of unauthorized punishment on convict.

  • Any superintendent, guard or other officer having charge of convicts who overworks or maltreats any convict or inflicts upon him any other or greater punishment than he is authorized by law to inflict must, on conviction, be fined, not less than $50 nor more than $500, and may also be imprisoned in the county jail or sentenced to hard labor for the county for not more than six months.
